Ignite Studio will be closed on December 24 and 25 for Christmas. On December 31, Ignite Studio will close early at 6 PM and will be closed on January 1 for New Year’s Day.

Nationally recognized folk artist and Hamilton County native Geoff Davis will be joining Inspire studio as maker-in-residence for September, October, and November. Geoff draws from a wide variety of traditional disciplines to create striking carved sculptures and ukuleles. A career educator, Geoff is looking forward to sharing his insights and techniques to Inspire patrons.

Maker-in-Residence: Open Studio Wood Carving

Join Ignite Studio’s maker-in-residence, Geoff Davis, for an interactive wood carving demonstration. Learn about the art of hand wood carving while you try your hand with the tools and investigate the process at various stages.

Maker-in-Residence: Open Studio Canjo Project

Join Ignite Studio’s maker-in-residence, Geoff Davis, for an interactive instrument building project. Interact with Davis as he builds an instrument in his studio, learn about his process, and make your own canjo—a simple one-string instrument that utilizes a can as a resonator. This experience is recommended for ages 8 and up.

Join Ignite Studio’s maker-in-residence, Geoff Davis, in a collaborative, ongoing project. Watch as Davis works through plans, jigs, and fixtures to build a new soprano ukulele over 4 different sessions. Patrons may drop-in to discuss his process and help complete steps with Davis’s guidance. Drop-in Nov. 11, 13, 15 or 26 to see this project reach completion. This experience is recommended for ages 13 and up.
