Did you know Hamilton East Public Library is making a zine as part of our Season of Gratitude program? Submit artwork to HEPL’s Quaranzine by January 15th!
A zine (short for magazine) is a small publication of original or appropriated images and words produced to share ideas, inspire others, encourage creativity, and make connections. A zine can be about anything at all including but not limited to art, activism and politics, music, travel, health, poetry, etc. It can also be by anyone–either individual or community. Many library communities have published Quaranzines throughout 2020, documenting experiences and insights of life during the pandemic. Check out some of these excellent examples from other libraries across the country:
Hamilton East Public Library will be publishing a zine of its own called “The HEPL Quaranzine: Gratitude Edition.” This activity is part of HEPL’s Season of Gratitude Program held each year from November 15-January 15. Send your art, ideas, or other uplifting work expressing gratitude. Submissions can include poetry, photographs, cartoons, recipes, drawings, how-to-guides, etc. The bounds of your imagination are your only limit! In need of supplies and inspiration? Visit the Ignite Studio and check out a kit from our kit library to get started!
To submit artwork to HEPL’s Quaranzine, send a 5×7 inch pdf or photo to [email protected] by January 15th. We look forward to seeing your contributions in this community zine!
