Ignite Studio Pattern Design Call for Art

pattern design call extended August 26

Ignite Studio at the Hamilton East Public Library in Fishers has opened a call for fabric designs. We are seeking artwork that includes heavy use of pattern that lends itself to being replicated on fabric. The artwork can be in any medium, as long as it adheres to the concept of “pattern.” Two designs will be chosen and printed onto fabric. The winning artists will receive two yards of their fabric and a $75 gift card. The fabric product will be available in Ignite Studio for patrons to use freely to make small items.

Pattern Design

Did you know you can design and custom-print fabric though online businesses like Spoonflower and Etsy? Ignite Studio would like to feature artist-designed fabric in the makerspace for patrons to use in sewing projects.

Brushstrokes, motifs, lines, shapes, colors–anything can be turned into a pattern through repetition. Pattern is one of the principles of art. It refers to a regular arrangement of alternating or repeated items. Pattern can make an item decorative, provide visual interest, or guide you through a piece of art.

Submission Guidelines

High-quality JPG files of any art form are accepted. In the fabric printing process, the selected artwork may be tiled in various ways: basic repetition, mirrored, or brick pattern.
