This year’s Summer Reading Program theme is “Color Our World.” Ignite Studio fits perfectly in this artsy, creative, colorful theme. “Color Our World” In Ignite Studio
Incredible Bugs with Teaching Artist Sofiya Inger – Two Session Class*

This is a two-session class – participants will need to register and show up for BOTH dates. Inspired by nature, create big (very big!) bright and colorful insects just in time for summer! Learn to plan, sketch, and construct oversized art objects. This is a two-part class. The first session involves the construction of your bug and the second session involves painting it! Ages 8-12.
Theatre Games to Color Your World with Teaching Artist Bill Wilkerson*

From literally hundreds of games taken from Improvisation for the Theater by Viola Spolin and Neva Boyd’s Handbook of Traditional Games, participants will experience theater, storytelling and communication in a fun filled format of play. Theater Games build confidence and self-esteem through experience. Play touches and stimulates vitality, awakening the whole person – mind, body, intelligence and creativity. Ages 13+.
Making Mobiles with Natural Materials*

Polish mobiles called pajaki, are made from straw, colorful paper and thread. They are lightweight decorations that can be hung for celebrations, visual interest or just for fun. Create your very own mobile using traditional techniques and your choice of colors to add festiveness to your space. Ages 13+.
Art Supply Swap

Do you have unused or unloved art supplies in need of a better home? Or are you an artist in need of art supplies? Bring your gently used art supplies to Ignite and participate in the Art Supply Swap! This is a drop-in event to swap supplies, pick up something new and exciting to try, or just chat with your fellow artists to exchange ideas as well as materials. See what new-to-you materials can color your world. Take what you need, donate what you can. All ages. No registration required – just drop in! Donations are not required to participate.
“Colorful Existence” Artist Reception
Thursday June 12 | 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Celebrate the artists of two brand new exhibits at this artist reception. In the main gallery find a group exhibit themed around this year’s Summer Reading Program “Color Our World.” Enjoy light refreshments, chat with the artists about their work, and support the arts. Public is welcome at this all-ages event. No registration required. See “Colorful Existence” on display from May 31 – August 1, 2025. See the lobby exhibit on display from May 31 – July 25, 2025.
