by Tyler Elks

It’s winter, the nights are long, the days tend to be gloomy, and we’re mostly stuck indoors. It’s easy to get lost in all the monotonous greys of the season. Not only will these brighten and bring fun to your space, but you can also take these projects as an opportunity to visit our lively maker’s space! Here are 5 ways to brighten your winter with Cricut.

Fun Flower Pots

If you’re a plant parent and you feel like your plants look a bit barren, try adding some fun decals to their pots! You can put phrases, names, or even faces on your leafy lovelies! Just make sure to use adhesive vinyl so it doesn’t fall off when watering. Here’s an article from Hey Let’s Make Stuff that will give you some ideas and show you how to make the decals: Fun Flower Pots

Don’t have a green thumb, but you’re still looking for some plant life to make your space feel cozier? Try making paper plants! You could make paper flowers that stay fresh all year long and don’t lose their color. Here’s Jennifer Maker’s video on How to Make Paper Flowers.

Not a floral fan? That’s cool, I’m more of a foliage friend myself. Luckily there’s something out there for everyone! Here is a link to Angie Holden’s How to Make Paper Plants with a Cricut for a Garden Party where she shows you how to make a few different houseplants out of paper.

Paper Snowflakes

Maybe you’re a fan of the snowy parts of winter, and you’re missing that winter wonderland feeling. Well, now you can enjoy the snow without the cold by making yourself some paper snowflakes! There are dozens of resources on how to do this, but I’ll send you over to Daily Dose of DIY on YouTube as she walks you through how to do this step by step and even offers free SVG files!

It’s cold outside and many of us enjoy a nice hot beverage to help warm our hands (and our hearts). So what better way to settle down and get cozy than by designing your own mug? You could stick with a winter theme, make some spring designs, and more; the world is your oyster! If you’re looking for inspiration, check out Lia Griffith’s Woodland Foil Vinyl Mug Decals where they detail how to apply the vinyl and offer the files needed to make the woodland critters shown in the photo!
